Policy
The goal of the GCP’s Policy Programme is to communicate and advance thinking on the key issues for tropical forests and tropical deforestation to policy makers and forest stakeholders. As our understanding of the science and economics of tropical forests grows the Policy programme provides an interface between the hard facts and national and international policy.
The GCP has been at the forefront of international policy with its Little Books, a series of easily accessible guides to tropical forests. The GCP has also held a series of workshops bringing together stakeholders from policy, science and implementation to explore some of the key issues threatening tropical forests today. As countries now get underway with their Readiness activities our Policy Programme has begun to focus more on the ongoing implementation of REDD through its collaborative REDD Desk programme.
