Luis Meneses
Luis is a graduate in Agronomy from the University of Sao Paulo, and holder of a postgraduate degree in Agro-forestry from CATIE, Costa Rica. He lived in the South-Western Amazon for 15 years and served as Professor and Researcher at the Federal University of Acre and as Planning Coordinator for the Government of Acre. He was Head of WWF’s Amazon Programme between 2001 and 2006, covering protected areas, sustainable forestry and environmental policy, and after that a consultant on Environmental Services and REDD+ for organisations including the Acre State Government, The Governor’s Climate Forest Task Force, GTZ, IUCN, WWF, GTA (Amazon Civil Society Network), and CCBA (Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance). Luis joined the GCP in early 2011 as Global Programme Director, with responsibility for the successful implemention of all the organisation's projects and programmes.
