Charlie Parker

Head of Policy

Charlie Parker is a 2008 MSc graduate in Environmental Economics and Policy from Imperial College, London.  During his studies he worked at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) providing secretariat services at both the 28th meeting of the Subsidiary Bodies of the UNFCCC and COP 9 of the Convention on Biological Diversity.  Following his internship Charlie went on to work for the Global Canopy Programme as a Head of Policy and has since produced several publications including the Little REDD Book, Little Climate Finance Book and Little Biodiversity Finance Book. Charlie is currently leading the REDD desk project, a collaborative platform on REDD Readiness and is continuing research on ways to scale up finance for forests and tackle the drivers of deforestation.

Charlie first graduated in 1997 from the University of Manchester with a Masters in Physics and Astrophysics.  During his early career, he worked as a management consultant in Europe for PricewaterhouseCoopers before going on to Australia in 2001 to work as an independent consultant for Accenture. Upon returning to the UK in 2005 Charlie formed his own consultancy company and worked in London for two years prior to restarting his studies.
