GCP Today

The Global Canopy Programme (GCP) works to demonstrate the scientific, political and financial case for safeguarding tropical forests as natural capital essential to lasting human wellbeing and economic prosperity.

Our pioneering initiatives such as the Forest Footprint Disclosure Project, the Natural Capital Declaration, the REDD Desk and the Little Book series test innovative solutions to protect forests within a global economy that still values them more dead than alive.

GCP is a not-for-profit research group and project incubator. We are based in Oxford and work through our multidisciplinary networks worldwide.

Our vision

We seek a world that values, accounts for, and safeguards natural capital as vital to lasting human wellbeing and economic prosperity.

Our mission

To demonstrate the scientific, political and business case for safeguarding  tropical forests as natural capital that underpins water, food, energy, health and climate security for all.
